I think I'm going to try it I have Amazon sticks through out my house
Can you record off of other streaming apps?
While watching recorded OTA content on the DVR, how do you skip commercials?? Thanks!
I have my Recast for a few weeks now. It does a great job on my OTA channels and is pretty sensitive. It gets them all. Neat that is has a guide for Pluto as well as my HBO. But is there a way to add additional streaming live services like XUMO? Luke, I see you have Central Texas News Now. Is that a streaming of OTA channel? I have been trying to figure out if I can add additional streaming services, like even STIRR to the guide. Is there an option for that? Thanks.
Does it incorporate Locast app in the guide??
How do I get to just the local news channels in my area? I can find ABC, CBS and NBC national but not local and it found 51 channels on the setup antenna scan. Thanks!
Is The Tennis Channel accessible with the Amazon Recast?
Do I need a recast for my 2 tvs and computer?
Could I use it for sling tv?

Does this dvr has YouTube app installed preinstalled original app and how much does it cost
Have question if some can answer my question does this have YouTube app installed preinstalled the original YouTube app?
Got this when it first came out since hubby has a hard time with streaming works great with the guide. He watches it all the time.
Question…Can this be used to watch LIVE streams from your antenna or is it only for recorded content? I have PS VUE but a couple of local channels are missing in my market, which i know I'll get with an antenna. Since all of my streaming devices are Fire TV, If I want to watch the game that's airing live on the local affiliate, can I watch it live or do I have to record it? Thanks
I have had the Recast since it came out. I like it a lot but, it works great inside my home. However, it does not allow me to stream or watch recorded content out of my house. It was advertised to do this. The primary reason that I bought it was for this advertised capability. I have called Amazon numerous times and they never get back to me to explain the problem. My internet is Fios, perhaps this is the problem? Fios denies they are blocking it.
Does the Recast DVR allow you to forward skip over recorded commercials?
Love mine. And I like firetv better than roku.
Can someone go into further detail about its integration with PSVue? That was kinda brushed over but it sounds like a really big deal…. also am reading about Pluto showing in the guide as well.
Thanks for the info; sounds like a cool device.
Does it give off a lot of heat? But sound like I need to get one.
Waiting for Prime Day to pull the trigger on 100% cord cutting. The Recast is the perfect a la carte TV solution. This first solution as far as I know. Surprised you did not mention the integration with Amazon Channels. It is my understanding the Amazon Channels will integrate with the guide as well. So any TV channels you do not have OTA would show up there if you subscribe to them. I know you mentioned PlayStation Vue but Amazon Channels is the 100% gap filler…especially once networks start allowing you to subscribe directly to them. Something networks like A & E do not let you do yet. You have to be a customer on a main provider first.
Love it and Pluto tv shows up as well on the guide so it is awesome! Been using it since Nov 18.
when are we going to get it in the UK?
I don't believe you mentioned the remote access feature for those of us who travel, have a second home or boat or RV. This is where this product can shine but also falls short. It seems to require a stronger than normal Wi-Fi signal to run this feature. And of course it's nice to see the news from home when you're away. Having the DVR also allows you to watch the 6 PM local news if you happen to get home later… It's a great product but it's not without its hiccups.
Can you record content from the streaming services that are integrated into the guide if you subscribe to them, like Sony PlayStation Vue?
Thinking about cutting the cord and getting a FireTV Recast. I heard you say Playstation Vue will show up in the channel guide. Is that content recordable to the Recast then, or is it just the OTA material that is recordable?
It was our Christmas gift, love it. Got 3 firesticks as well, they are so affordable. Because it worked so great, we dropped our cable. We also take the (lesser) firestick on vacation, easy to setup. The phone app works great too, although I don't use it much. Love the whole setup.
I love the Fire Recast It's good You could add a hard drive What's the best hard drive.
I am curious about how the tuners on the Recast compare to a Tablo. I feel that the Tablo's tuners are a weak point and if this would be an upgrade, it certainly makes the purchase more tempting.
Can the tv recordings be uploaded to the pc for viewing?
Thanks for this update! I've been using a Tablo for a couple years, which is good in ways but lacking in others. I wondered about the ReCast and it looks exactly like what we need. We use a Fire box in the living room and Firesticks in the bedrooms. Also just switched to Vue from DTVN, and my wife would definitely prefer that traditional guide!
FYI… We are currently experiencing an internet outage and have no wifi. The recast is still working. I can watch the live feed from the antenna and anything that's recorded. I love this dvr! 😍
Tablo is much better just be honest i use all amazon products too but when it comes to streaming NVIDIA Shield i use the 4kstick for reviews only
Hey Luke thank you for the great update of the Recast unit I'm definitely a Amazon Fire Sticks/HD 8 Fire Tablets FAN…😃 I have 4 fire sticks in my house but my only hold on buying the unit is I wish that it would work like my hdhomerun quatro (meaning having the ability to watch 4 TV's at once) I'm waiting very patiently for Amazon to catch up with everybody else like Silicondust and Tablo then I will definitely with no hesitation by the unit…. But like always thank you for all the great reviews & news reports..👍👍👍👍😃😃
Just go with Tablo.
In reviewing, I think it's important to test or disclose if any of these OTA DVRs and network distribution boxes will work if your internet is out or if an internet is required. Obviously the Grid would require data from some place; example USB or Internet update.
I'm thinking in emergencies if you could even see any TV on the primary DVR Box or any other devices on your local network.
I know that everything from Amazon and Google that stream are completely locked out even if other services are running. Example when Google's Chromecast network was down you could not stream anyting.
I have had mine for 4 to 5 months, and really like it. I have Fire cube and box in two rooms, and it works great. Really like how it integrates the live channels with my other streaming channels on the main screen. Recordings are a breeze to schedule. In addition, since my antenna is connected to the Recast as well as my main TV, I can watch live via antenna on my main TV and record two programs at the same time on the Recast. Recast is a very good product. I can see why some would need interoperability with Roku, Apple, etc, but we just uses Amazon hardware so that’s not a problem for me.
Will it put iptv m3u list and epgs on its guide and DVR them for future watching or is it strictly “mainstream” providers
I've been using the Recast 4-tuner version since it was released and like it as I happen to prefer the Amazon Firesticks, too, but for other reasons. It has worked well, but somewhere between it and the Firestick will occasionally hang/freeze on a channel with marginal signal strength. Also, maybe I just don't know how to do it, but I don't want it integrating services like Pluto into my grid. The same goes for Philo. The only choice I see is to uninstall the apps. I also have an HDHomeRun and an AirTV. My second, but a close choice would be the AirTV/Sling combo.
Been using recast dvr for about a month. Love it.
I found this product to be buggy and slow. I hated being forced to use an amazon fire stick instead of my hard wired Roku as well.
